Guns and personal safety
Nothing like a gun to ensure personal safety if the person carrying the gun knows how to use it. As much as it pains me to admit it I do know people who’d do more damage to themselves with a gun than they would to a robber or home intruder.
Guns are a tool. A piece of metal and plastic. Nothing more, nothing less. The problem isn’t guns, the problem is what people do with guns. Statistics show that homeowners are more likely to hurt themselves or some in the house than they are an intruder. So the call is to ban guns to protect idiots from themselves.
I have a different solution. Like all tools some training is required to use the tool correctly. Gun training should be mandatory in 4th or 5th grade in every school in the country. Yes, girls too.
Oh, come on, we, as a country are never going to give up our guns. Never! It just won’t happen. We may outlaw guns but no matter what we will never give up our guns. We also have the perfect excuse. They protect our freedom and our personal safety. The govt can’t do that even if they could somehow manage to confiscate all guns.
When guns are outlawed, blah, blah, blah. Blah, blah, cold dead fist. Just those two attitudes guarantee it’s never going to happen. So, we need to educate everyone about guns and let everyone carry guns.
Look back at the rates of crime in the 20’s and 30’s when almost everyone, both men and women, carried a pocket or purse gun. Not to bright to dis someone when you know they’re packing. Not to bright to cause road rage when ya know everyone is packing.
Everyone would be more polite, there’d be less rapes, less muggings, less assaults, less personal safety issues of all kinds. Even less robberies. Probably even less Madoffs. Hard to rob millions or even get others to join the scheme when everyone you robbed could come and shoot you. It’s definitely an easy and cheap solution to the crime problem.
Besides the fact it’s also going to help the gene pool. All the idiots that never have a hope of learning how to behave will kill each other off quick and the rest of us will have better lives.
See, if all of us carried guns we could take the money we spend on law enforcement and use it for something else like health care. Less crime and better health care all because we all carry a gun. Simple and yet, elegant.
I want to thanks T.J. Security for allowing me to post this semi tongue in cheek post about guns and safety. My name is Lee Michaels and the truth is I do think we’d all be better off if we all carried guns. I think we’d all be better off if gun training were mandatory. I know I for one will never voluntarily give up my guns and I know a lot of other people who won’t. Yes, we use the justifications listed above.
