Zone Alarm Firewall
There are some very useful programs that come with your computer, but there are also some that you should go out and look for. Most computers today come with a trial of an anti-virus programs, and each computer comes with some sort of firewall. However, before you rely on what your computer manufacturer is recommending to you, you should see what works well for those that you know. I have the Zone Alarm firewall and I love it. I had to search it out on my own, but I am glad that I did.
This Zone Alarm firewall is great because it gives you a lot of control over what it does. Some firewalls are so hard to figure out that you have web sites you want to see that will not appear, and many applications that you know are safe refuse to run. When you use the Zone Alarm firewall, you are given the choice each and every time if you want something to work or not. It is mostly concerned with information going to and from the Internet, and that is with what you should also be concerned.
When I first installed Zone Alarm firewall, it asked me if it was okay for Internet Explorer to access the Internet. While that should seem like a no-brainer, there are some viruses that will mimic things like Explorer. I could then see that it was my browser that was trying to get to the Internet and click that I would allow it. You can tell it a program can go once, or click that it always should have access to the Internet.
What makes this feature of Zone Alarm firewall great, at least for me, is that when an application on my computer wants to send out information, I get to see what is going on before it happens. If you get a virus or some other rogue program that is trying to steal and then send out your personal information from your computer, your Zone Alarm firewall is going to stop it until you say that it is okay for that program to run and go online. You can look anything up before you decide. You can save yourself a lot of grief with that simple application of the firewall from Zone Alarm.
There are a few different versions of the Zone Alarm firewall that you can use. There is a free version that works very well, but you don’t have as much control. You can also pay for the Zone Alarm firewall that has even more control in it for you to use, and you can also get their anti-virus software as well. You may even want to use the spyware program that Zone Alarm has to offer. All in all, you are getting something that works very well for a very good price, even if the free version is not all that you need. You can feel safer with Zone Alarm on your computer.
